Restoration of Fine Italian Motorcycles

Restoration of Fine Italian Motorcycles Restoration of Fine Italian Motorcycles Restoration of Fine Italian Motorcycles
award winning projects

We are Mike and Candie Hurley

We specialize in restoring Bevel drive Ducatis and select British and Japanese sporting motorbikes. These are our stories.

From rusty old barn finds to immaculate concourse condition, Candie and I love the transformations.   Read about our past and current builds. Select a story from the blog list below

A couple of our early builds were customs. Today we strive for Authenticity and Original Spec Restorations

We are Proud to announce that our 1973 750 Sport was awarded the 2024 Amelia Island Concours de Elegance Motorcycle Class Award

We have two new additions to the Vintage Desmo Collection.

I have always had a soft spot for the first generation Katana and we picked this one up this January. It badly needed some TLC and we have finally gotten it to riding condition and are giving it a workout.

This 1967 Ducati SL/1 50 was purchased as is from a collector in Colorado. These little racy 2 strokes were very rare when new and sold sparsely in Europe. Today there are probably less than 10 of these in the USA. It's a spectacular little sport bike and we are very lucky to have it in our collection.

The Barn Find projects

In October of 2018 we purchased a collection of parts and these 3 projects, pulled out of a barn in North Carolina

I took this picture as I brought the project bikes home. At this time I only had a vague idea what these bikes were or if the bare frame had any other parts for it. I only really expected 2 bikes from the lot. All of this stuff has been resting in that barn since the mid-70's

August 1st of 2023 We finished restoring the last of them

They were completed one by one, along with several other bikes in the mix, and now we have a 1970 Mark 3 350 Desmo, a '62 Diana 250 replica, and a 1967 Mark 3 250 (restored using the bare frame as a starting point and digging through the parts stores to unearth the pieces that, to our surprise, belong to the original bike)

That completes our journey of restoring the bikes from "the Barn".

    Set of Monza Bodywork

This is the longer seat that fits with the small Monza style gas tanks. Unlike the Mark 3 seat with a straight bottom edge  It is beautifully contoured on the bottom to flow with the body lines. This long seat is needed with small tanks. This one has a small hole on the left front and the badge on the back is damaged. The aluminum trim is straight and the inner frame is solid and rust free.

Rare Correct Original 1974 750 SS pair of special forks for Greenframe

Rare Correct Original 1974 750 SS pair of special forks for Greenframe

The  750SS forks were made especially for the Ducati by Marzocchi. They have only two mudguard studs each side, and are center axle. The  Scarab/Lockheed mounting lugs are situated at the front of the sliders,  as is the oil drain, but the axle still slides in from right to left, so  that the nut is on the left of the forks, if a set of Sport forks is  reversed, the axle goes the wrong way.  It's almost impossible to fake a  set of forks in the correct configuration for a SuperSport and real  ones are very rare.  Email for more pics and info
